How Mazyo picks a place for a group

It starts from the reviews you may read

The calculation only receives reviews that the person who starts it may read: those of their friends, their groups and their own ratings. A private review, or one kept for another group, never enters the calculation.

Reviews weigh more when they come from a close friend, from someone whose tastes match yours on places you both rated, and when they are recent.

One person who said no sets a veto

A place that a participant rated 2 out of 5 or less is never suggested. Neither is a place above the known budget, or too far for one of the participants. Mazyo would rather answer "no place fits" than suggest a place outside the constraints.

A group is not just an average

For each place, Mazyo estimates what each person would think of it, then looks at the average but also at the least satisfied person: a place loved by four friends and hated by the fifth does not win.

Trips count too. Everyone starts from the home area they chose, never from a live position, and a place that brings everyone closer beats a place that is very convenient for one person only.

Several suggestions, not the same one three times

Mazyo suggests a main choice and alternatives. They are picked to be different: not the same cuisine in the same neighbourhood three times. When places with no review at all exist, one of them can be flagged as a discovery.

Every reason is a fact

The reasons shown (who liked the place, the trip time, the budget, a shared taste) come from the calculation, never from an invented sentence. No generative AI chooses or ranks a place.

What Mazyo does not know

• Opening hours and how busy a place is: the app says so instead of guessing.
• Allergens: only the tags left in reviews exist. A declared diet ranks a place with no proof lower, marked "to check".
• The quality of a place with no review at all: the suggestion says so.
